Maurice,

Most US citizens don't realize that us hunter gatherers in Alaska have more electoral influence than the rest of the country. We don't need a Kiwi educating them on how it works. Please refrain from referring to people as hillbillies, the proper term is southern democrat.

Pete

PS. You have to side with George W. He not only is the king of murdering murderers, he will pardon $Bill Gates.

OTP: The dream of the agrarian THomas Jefferson (ideas imported from
France), the self supporting family farmer (no slaves,
just a lot of kids and cows, some horses) was actually
put into practice in Finland.

The result is still seen as a centrist agrarian party
in a balanced 20-20-20% fight, although the family farmers
are fewer and fewer, due to mechanization, tractors and
fertilizers.

This centrist agrarian party is interesting, not
the best buddy of big capital, not the best buddy of
monthly or hourly payed union industrial workers, more
a friend of entrepeneurs, long time investing,
understanding that the weather is somewhat
unpredictable as the market, risk management,
education, health care and veterinarians, weather
forecasts, cooperation,etc..

Additionally one need something to do in the
winter, forrestry is great, so investing in some
forrest ready for some capital gains in 50-60
years balances the yearly variations, the
commodity market of Hillary and Newt.

One pain is that the cows need to be milked
every day, problem visiting relatives,
taking a vacation, we have heard of NZ cows who
are slightly less productive but less seasonally
dependent in the basic services??
(but one cannot leave a finnish cow out in the snow,
easier with reindeer)

But the real interesting thing is this agrarian,
common sense and centrist, moderate force.
The regular right and left cannot mud and dogfight and make
fools out of themselves without considering the danger that
the center points out the foolishness..

And when the center is doing that, both right and left jump
on them. Two can always fight indefinitely, with
three one will grab the opportunity of having fun
pointing out the two mudfighting idiots..

The finnish Saame are also having a problem figuring
out who has the historical rights and who doesn't,
but they are sorting out the reindeers. Interesting
how reindeers, needing to eat and walk all over the
3-4 northern nations change the concept of property
rights, neighbours and especially the "no trespassing"
sign of more southern, not even pedestrian farmers?!

Much like the operator around the bend must lower
the transmit power for my basestation to work
and I have to do the same, for both of us to handle
all the mobile handsets and roaming reindeers compared to
more pedestrian, less mobile cows?? (not considering bulls,
who sometimes move fast and far, spreading fertility like
teenagers without condomes in the pocket, even without
sending SMS messages)

Ilmarinen, installing Magic WinMe for the teenagers,
Plug and Pray, Waiting for Another Happy Blue Screen

Maybe the 21st century is going to degenerate into bedlam. Insanity seems to rule.

Absolutely. William Gibson was right.

>>>Adulation of the people who wrote a rather simplistic document is going a bit far.<<<

Maurice, you've got to be kidding me.

You don't think the founding fathers of the United States do not deserve adulation for writing the US Constitution, risking their lives to defy England and for many, watching their familes killed and property taken as a result?
Does not the foundation of the nation that inspires millions to seek their own freedom deserve some adulation?
I know we've made a lot of mistakes Maurice, but really.

I know it is fun to be flippant, but seriously you should examine your logic in making a statement like that.
