You my wish to go back to the '70's and re-read the chapter on monetization. Personally, we can borrow to pay our bills, but we don't have the wonderful power to print what we need.

I'd never owe a dime if it were otherwise...

You are confusing a balance sheet with an income statement...they are not the same.

Companies, individuals, governments can produce positive earnings and still see debt rise/assets decline/net worth decline.
