It is my humble opinion that the rancor and hostility was created primarily by people like Jerry Nadler ("whiff of fascism"), Alan Dershowitz ("Bush is instrumenting a coup d'etat), and the media that have been whipping this little fire into a blaze over the last 4 weeks.

Your statement about the division in the country is correct. It is the most publicized since Vietnam.

"We" don't have low expectations for Bush, YOU do. If I had low expectations for the man, I would not have voted for him. Unfortunately, my vote got nullified by Suzanne Gunzberger, who manufactured one for Al Gore, but I'm not too bitter about it.

I understand her and her motives. That's why I vote. That's why I'll vote again in two years.

That's probably why some people that didn't vote this time will vote in two years. We'll see what happens then, eh?

I respectfully tend to disagree with you that Bush is, or appears, "weak". As a matter of fact, I tend to think he's appeared pretty strong under the circumstances. Al can keep up the inflammatory rhetoric and 'coulda shoulda woulda won' nonsense as long as he wants. The longer he does it, the more mistakes he makes, the worse your party looks, and the more permanent damage is done. If you can't see that, then you need to look again. I have lots of friends that are liberal. At some point, everyone sees that this has gone too far. That's when it stops.

I think you might be pleasantly surprised at Bush. I know you don't like the man, but he isn't evil.
