C. Thomas represents a low point in the S.Ct.'s history. The rest of the Court is a brain trust of some of the brightest legal minds in America. How Thomas found himself among them, he'll never know. Hint: it's because he was anti-abortion but had no judicial record that proved it and he was a conservative minority (all part of the GOP attempts to prove that it wasn't really full of knights of the Ku Klux Klan - it still is, don't believe their lies).
