Eugene, the outcome of ANY U.S. Supreme Court ruling is constrained by time; namely, the final date for selecting electors from Florida. If a stay on the vote count forces Florida to rely on an earlier count, or forces the Florida legislature to vote on one slate of electors, regardless of the vote count, then the stay raises a question of credibility, which would make it even more difficult for the winning candidate to govern. If there were no time constraint, a stay would be reasonable. But given the short amount of time left, the stay is prejudicial, to say the least.
