While she possesses the authority to "cut some slack" in extenuating circumstances, SHE IS NOT LEGALLY BOUND TO DO SO.

Yes, you're right. She may (if the USSC finally rules so) use all her discretion in a way that just happens to favor the candidate whose campaign she is chairing.

You say this is not gaming the system because she is an elected official. I say, same difference & it certainly smells.

You keep saying she had no choice in her legal duties. That is not true; her own statement to the FSC confirmed that she had discretion whether or not to accept amended returns from manual recounts. She chose to use her discretion to block as many manual recounts as she could.
