I think the rankings have to be evaluated for what they are. I can't think of anyone who can demonstrate that a certain set of technical rankings consistently produce profitable trades. I think O'Neil's response to the question was appropriate and straight forward. You must wait for the base to form or else be willing to accept a much greater degree of risk.

While I don't know of a way to independently verify his rankings, nearly every week the Investor's Education section lays out examples from the past, often citing the EPS, RS, and fundamental rankings that existed before big moves. This at least provides some evidence that there is substance to the approach, at a minimum, as a stock selection prospecting tool. Some great traders have also attributed their success to O'Neil or a variant of his approach.

I have noticed a slight difference in the web site ratings. I believe the web service is recalculated every night and this may account for the difference you see in the most recent addition of the paper.
