Frank, I did not say that Katherine Harris should have recused herself for being a Republican. I said she should have recused herself for being co-chair of Bush's campaign.

Why do you find the distinction between simple party affiliation and actively working for a campaign so hard to understand?

If you are the state chairman of Candidate X's campaign for President, and Candidate X is elected, then you are standing in line for a nice political appointment. If you merely voted for Candidate X, then you are not in line for a nice political appointment -- why should you be?

Why is this simple and time-tested rule of politics suddenly too hard to see?
