spek, i'd argue that your city's dwellers WERE making money hand over fist in the market. many of them deumped their savings into a naz above 4k, as did at least one person on this thread. also, the 100% confidence that markets ALWAYS go up has been shaken. badly. i continue to argue that the last 9 months have erased about all of the last 8 years' worth of market gains. how? if you buy 1 share low and buy 50 high, a 50% retracement wipes you out.

Spek, I've been hearing that traffic is down, but the mall I hang at is packed to the gills. To be fair, it is the top mall in Houston and may not be representative of the others, as The Galleria gets a large influx from Mexico and Latin America during Xmas.
