I got a kick out of Ahmanns' testimony - Gore's first witness, the political science guy, had shown the court a Pollstar machine with a lot of chad buildup when you opened the bottom of the box. Ahmanns testified that what the Gore witness had shown the court was the cleanout box - the chad falls down into the cleanout box when it is picked up. So that didn't tell the court anything about the part of the box where the stylus goes. It was little things like that which did Gore in, that and the total annihilation of the statistician on cross-examination. Stuff like that is why appellate courts are usually deferential to trial courts. The trial court, Judge Sauls, saw what was really going on.
