Automobiles have a high selling price, but they are nevertheless a commodity. PC chips have a high relative selling price, but that market has also been largely commoditized.

As Intel attempts to develop chips for non-PC devices, the relative selling price is far less. Intel has less room for error (if it still hopes to make a profit). Other companies are dominating there.
