DanB--I have stated repeatedly that I am critical of both Gore and Bush for not immediately asking for a manual recount of ALL of the counties in FL. The rationale for Gore asking for 4 Democratic counties to be recounted can be explained by: one, his understandable desire to win (the same desire which fuels Bush's attempts to block manual recounts anywhere), and two, the fact that the counties in which Gore requested manual recounts had much greater numbers of "non-votes" than the counties using the much more accurate optical scanners. Don't you understand that this fact is undeniable and explains why Republicans are so mad? It's truly ...welll...what word do I pick and still be kind? ...to claim I should not blame Gore for seeking what he seeks, 'cuase plainly, it ain't a fair and accurate count, despite his words which fly in the face of the realities with these counties.
