Then the lunatic fringe came on board with talk of the anti-christ and UN world domination. Cola has become the resident idiot and is great fun to poke with a stick to get a reaction. Mandate is a term used mostly in the media. Half the country still didn't vote, so the popular vote is only a reflection of who actually got off their ass to vote and as Florida has proven, how accurate are they? Also, CA just finished the official vote last week. I wonder how many states even bothered to count the votes received after election day if they were less than the margin of victory? In previous elections, absentee ballots were only counted if they were of a sufficient amount to swing the election. We are in a media fueled frenzy. More people are glued to the tube than ever before. We watch and start believing the talking heads with the various spin applied by each. We then take this outrage to the internet to voice our displeasure at the latest "facts" as told to us by Crier, Rush, Rivera, etc. Finally, to blame Nader for Gore's poor showing seems to be the ultimate hypocrisy. We have the same tired old parties going at it election after election. Truth be known, the thought of a viable third party scares the hell out of both parties. It's a good old boys game that doesn't allow outsiders. Both parties may bitch and moan, but they need each other so the American public feel as if there is some choice in the process. Was there a fundamental difference between Gore and Bush? None that I could see. Both for education, tax-cuts, defense, death penalty. Where have the fundamental differences between the parties gone. Bush couldn't articulate it. Finally, these were two of the poorest excuses for politicians I have had to choose from in my lifetime. It's very sad that we've reached a point that these are the "best and the brightest" we have to choose from. Regards
