hi bob

you are most kind to continue to track down possible solutions for my display issue. i must say that i feel comfortable at this juncture, having smoothed things out to a level of acceptability. ( see #reply-14988287 )

i checked out the links you provided. i do not currently have the voodoo drivers installed. going back to the generic, certified windows drivers is best for me it seems. this poster thinks so too...

"Lesson I learned from using Win2K, if there is a certified driver from Win2K that support your peripheral hardware, use it instead of the manufacturer's version of the Win2K." ( #reply-14986839 )

the static interference segment has me wondering, though.... recently i have been hearing a rather disconcerting pop or snapping noise from my speakers. very infrequent, maybe once every other day, but quite loud. makes me wonder about "Make sure that all speakers and other peripherals around your computer are properly shielded"? what is a proper shield, do you know?

thanks again for your interest

:)
