HI JQP,

Would be interested in your opinion on the following.

Yesterday I studied as best I could to find out where the gas is coming from that is crossing into California and selling at $50+ MMbtu. In a story about a dispute over pipeline allocation, or something, I found a statement that the preferred source was the San Juan Basin. It seems to me that despite whatever claims there are through futures, hedges, and so on, and despite whatever kind of scalping or whatever might be going on, that some of the $50 ought to make its way back to the wellhead in New Mexico where the gas has been selling at around $3.00. So I bought 2000 shares of San Juan Basin Royalty Trust this morning as a speculation on that. The trust is already paying a generous dividend. Last time I looked my purchase had accounted for most of today's trading of SJT.

I have also become a partial believer in the Lost Hills gas bonanza and have bought both BKP.To (Berkley) and PYR with the understanding that all I may get out of it is a tax deduction. I was persuaded by a very thorough report from A. G. Edwards on PYR. See links through these posts:
