Elmer,

There isn't a 1.5GHz Athlon. That's the whole point. P4 runs faster on a given process generation. Are we in denial about Athlon?

Good point. P4 has been there for a few weeks, and Palomino isn't due for a few more weeks. That constitutes a generation in my book.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not denying Intel's prowess at influencing the ranks of Benchmark creators. I hold them in the highest esteem for that skill.

1) INTC says it will have a 10GHZ processor in 5 to 10 years.
2) IBM says that combining SOI and low-K with its .13 copper process will allow it to produce a 10GHZ processor
3) AMD's SOI low-K process on .13 copper goes into production at the end of next year

Sounds like a 4 year lead for AMD.

:-)
