Don,

I don't think you'll see that this year, because the gains are not extra ordinary, like they were in 1999.

Dear Don,

LOL! By the way if this is going to be a consistent pattern, I am doomed to suffer very bad birthdays for the rest of my investing life. ;-{

I take it all back. <gg> So sorry, please don't take things so personally.... Hehe.

Seriously, I am in the process of rethinking that earlier point of view in the face of Allan Greenspan's blink last Tuesday. And in view of what may well become a soft landing as opposed to the rather harsher view I've had of things lately. You see, sometimes, I get the feeling that the Puritans get the upper hand at the FOMC, and that they actually like seeing rises in the rate of bankruptcy, because someone has been trying to have to much fun and they deserve to be punished. But, fortunately, Greenspan seems to rise above that mealy view of life, and actually concerns himself with keeping the economy on an even keel. I think he would be wise to start the move on Dec. 19, and it would be great for the stock market if he were to do so. It would be the surprise that would make everyone happy again. And lord knows we could use some good news.

My basic thing on AMCC, BRCM, NTAP, SDLI yada di yada, is that the whole lot of them have become unhinged from any underlying business reality at this juncture and so a bet placed on them is just that. A casino wager. I'm no longer going to be helpful to those trying to make sense of AMCC vis a vis other alternative investment candidates. I think they are all tainted by the gambler's den they are forced to trade in. I'm an easy capitulator. Maybe I'll miss some fun on the upside, but I'm more of the capital preservation type than the roll the dice type. So, good luck. I have no idea where AMCC will be trading in a month, let alone on your birthday. <s>

hard dip around the ides of March. Do you see this being inspired by other than personal income tax selling, or is it another inspiration? As I said, Greenspan just changed my view. I expect less anxiety in the capital markets in mid-March now than I did two weeks ago. Guess that makes me bullish, huh?

Best, Ray
