Jim, sorry, 4 votes in NM is not insurance-- it is not enough to make the difference, since Gore is only 3 votes shy of an electoral majority. The media should be all over this as exposing GOP hypocrisy on manual recounts. (as if the Texas statutes were not enough) By going to the USSC, Bush may have screwed himself. If they allow the recounts to go forward, and Gore wins, the public pressure against the Florida Legislature stealing the election will be too great for Bush not to concede. Had the case not gone to the USSC, they would have an easier time justifying their legislature-enabled coup. Doug
