I cannot find anything mentioning the two missing tapes, off hand. The 17 minute gap was suspicious, although Rosemary Wood took the blame, but at worst involves tampering, not destruction. There were, in the end, hundreds of tapes, and they went to the Nixon Library, to eventually be researched, not a bonfire........
