"Bush might end up being the weakest and most forgettable, intellectually-challenged and
ineffectual president since Rutherford B. Hayes."

LOL - you looney liberals have totally lost it now. It is indisputable that the reason the Deom's have backed Gore thur all his whining is not that they like him or support him - but rather to try and weaken Bush. They fear him and the success he will have

And besides, if Gore somehow stole this, Gore would end up as the most hated, ineffective and immoral president since, hmmmmm, lets see, Bill "I did not have sex with that woman" Clinton

What worries me about Bush is that unless he's been coached, is posing and reading a speech or is in a light-weight joking-around situation he gets that deer-in-the-headlights look, visible fear that people will realize that he really doesn't have the answer. In a few ways he's a strong candidate. Looks good and generally likeable. In other ways he's like a young Dan Quayle. He clearly isn't prepared or studious about issues and doesn't have many personal convictions either. In many cases I believe he needs to be told what to say by his handlers, including his father who is helping him every inch of the way.

Cheney on the other hand has no such problems. Precisely why he was picked. And also because he's daddy's man. That said, it doesn't say much for Gore as a candidate that he couldn't beat this guy by a mile. Was it Gore's stiffness? His charisma-challenged personality? My jewish buddy has his explantion, "He picked a jew. What do you expect?" Even as conservative as Leiberman is, did unspoken anti-semitism have something to do with why Gore couldn't even carry Tennessee? Maybe. But then that goes back to Monica. Monica is the reason why Leiberman was picked. So did the BJ cost Gore?

Fascinating Monday morning quarterbacking analysis. Another big factor of course was Nader. Even at just 3% of the vote he clearly ruined it for Gore. And why couldn't Buchanon get more than 1%? Maybe in the end the Republicans just wanted it a little more. Or a lot more with fewer people (but more money). And it all comes down to 150 votes in Florida or a few thousand in New Hampshire. Amazing.
