I am in favor of what causes the least mischief. If I thought you were correct in your assessment, I would change my mind. I will think about it, but it is doubtful I will change my mind.....

How about: In the next week (hopefully, maybe as a result of the USSC decision) a President is chosen who serves his 4 years. Maybe he "should" have won, maybe not. Meanwhile, we fix the problem - -we come up with a reliable system of counting votes that is (nearly) tamper-proof. (If the politicos will let us; I suspect many of them are not in favor of a system they cannot twiddle.) Then we have another election. While I prefer Bush, I could live with Gore for 4 years and oust him in 2004.

What's wrong with that? Or do you prefer blood in the streets and Americans killing Americans on a large scale?
