I thought the PC slowdown was limited to Intel. And AMD sales, because of their superior products, were not effected. Oh well:

AMD warns Q4 sales, earnings will fall short
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 11 (Reuters) - Computer chip maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NYSE:AMD - news) warned Monday its fourth quarter sales and earnings will fall short of expectations due to slow consumer demand for personal computers in the United States.

AMD said its fourth-quarter sales will be flat to nominally higher than the prior quarter's $1.2 billion. The company also said it now anticipates fourth-quarter net income in the range of 50-60 cents a share, depending on the relative strength of PC processor sales in the closing weeks of the quarter.

Wall Street analysts on average had expected the company to post a profit of 68 cents a share, according to First Call/Thomson Financial.

AMD cited weak demand for consumer PCs in the United States retail market and projected its unit shipments of AMD PC processors will be only nominally higher than the record 6.8 million units shipped in the third quarter.

AMD previously said it expected total fourth-quarter sales to grow sequentially in the high-single-digit-range, with unit shipments of PC processors between 8 million and 9 million units.

GV,

Too bad Bush and his GOP advisors cannot see beyond 20 Jan to see how obvious your point is.

Broward County canvassing commission gave them an obvious reason to oppose such a move. Once these clowns are removed from discerning voter intend, some of the objections would go away.

The only problem I see is that any kind of counting "deal" would most likely not be based on the existing law. Even if all parties agree to cut a deal, all it takes is 1 voter to challenge it in court, and we are back where we started.

Joe

GVTucker et al.,

Pardon me for jumping in, but I would like to caution some that the outcome that seems to be preordained (that is, the installation of Bush as president through either judicial or legislative fiat) is the best thing that could possibly happen to the Democrats at this point. Few remember that the British won the Battle of Bunker Hill or that the Tet Offensive was actually unsuccessful.

The democrats and their sympathizers will be more than mobilized in 2004 and the democrats can rid themselves of AL Gore, all while claiming the larger plurality of the popular vote. If it turns out that those undervotes would have put Gore over the top, then the Bush administration is going to have problems with the way Americans perceive it.

Gore ran the most pathetic campaign in memory, and yet he continued the trend since 1984 of an increase in Democrat votes, while Bush at long last stopped the trend since then of decreasing GOP votes. Add in the fact that the GOP has lost seats in 3 straight congressional elections and factor in that the person receiving the most votes for president since '84 has been (in order) a conservative R, a moderat R, a moderate D (twice), and now a moderate to liberal D (followed by a moderate R who spouted inclusive rhetoric, refused to propose spending decreases, proposed increases in social spending, and refused to propose outlawing abortion), and you have a VERY sour recipe for conservatives.

Let Bush have it. The GOP will rue the day.

Just my .02$!

Chris

A few of those USSC justices don't look like log term to them is more than a few years, I think that is a big factor.
