Collection" Will be Auctioned At the 30th
Anniversary Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in January

Business Editors

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 12, 2000--Barrett-Jackson
the World's Greatest Car Auction is excited to present a rare
selection of factory muscle cars owned by Patrick J. McGroder III and
ranked as the collection housing the most rare and concours examples
of the elite muscle cars of the 1960s and early 1970s, this January
17-21, 2001 at WestWorld in Scottsdale.
McGroder began racing cars at Lancaster Speedway and Niagara
Raceway in Buffalo before he had his first driver's license. He
followed the evolution of the automobile and its impact on racing. His
early racing days left him with a determination to acquire his own
nostalgic piece of his past.
McGroder began collecting these rare muscle cars in the '80s with
a goal to acquire the most famous muscle cars of the '60s,
manufactured by the top American car builders.
In his quest McGroder sought out the rarest and most famous,
factory or experimental cars some with infamous race histories, low
mileage originals or the 100-point restored car. His collection is the
best and foremost representation of the rarest of rare muscle cars in
the world.
Representing an era in automobile history the McGroder Factory
"Muscle Car Collection" is a result of a detailed meticulous search
for rarity and originality. Included in this year's Barrett-Jackson
auction will be (Car descriptions see Appendix A):

VIN No. 138375K173411

One of the true muscle car legends of the 1960s, the Factory
Muscle Collection's Z-16 Chevelle is a one-owner car purchased from a
high-volume dealer. This car is equipped with three of the only four
options available. In addition to the many luxuries of the total RPO
Z-16 package, this car has comfort-tilt steering, deluxe bumper
guards, and the all new for 1965 vinyl-covered roof.
Fitted with the new Mark IV 396 cu. in. motor, rated at 375 hp,
the L-37 four-bolt big block motor was fitted with special square port
heads and a Holley carburetor on a lightweight aluminum intake
manifold. This car is completely documented, including the original
protect-o-plate, and restored to concours condition.

Lot No. 699
Mickey Thompson's 1963 Pontiac "Swiss Cheese" Catalina
VIN No. 363P96968

In 1961, Pontiac's Super Duty Program created 11 very special
hand-built cars, destined for a handpicked elite team of drivers.
These special lightweight vehicles, Catalina two-door sedans, came to
be known as the "Swiss Cheese" cars. Fitted with the monster 421 cu.
in., its mid 12-second elapsed times and 120 mile per hour speeds were
among the fastest of the factory-produced cars.
Of the two cars delivered to the late racing legend Mickey
Thompson. This car was used as a back up car for his program and as
such has less than 100 miles. It has been restored to concours
condition with all correct original parts. Original documentation
bearing Mickey Thompson's signature documents the vehicle's ownership.

Lot No. 953
1969 AMX Hurst Super Stock
VIN No. A9M397X213572

The two-seater AMX/SS is one of the most intriguing cars of the
1960s high-performance era. The car's standard equipment included a
390 CID V-8 AMX engine, with two Holley high-performance carburetors
on an Edelbrock aluminum dual-cross ram intake manifold. The Factory
Muscle Collection's car is the "lucky" No. 13 car, which was delivered
to an Indiana dealer as a backup or number two car.
Designed by AMC and Hurst to facilitate engine- bearing service,
this car has a special "drop-out" section of the engine support
member; only a few of these were produced. The vehicle is one of the
original 26 cars painted with the red, white and blue AMC team colors.
This car was never pressed into service and has been completely
restored to delivery condition with an odometer reading of less than
500 miles.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS-6 Convertible
VIN No. 1366708176455

Introduced in 1970, the Chevelle SS 454 LS-6 rated at 450 hp, the
highest horsepower production engine ever built for a passenger car,
had a bold muscular appearance with its bulging fenders and new cowl
induction hood. This Cranberry Red 1970 SS 454 convertible was treated
to an extensive concours restoration using NOS parts and much
research.
The restoration was done with the ISCA in mind, resulting in 10
current restored class champion awards, many paint and outstanding
restored trophies, and the 1986 International Champion Award for
current restored vehicles.
This SS 454 convertible with LS-6 has won the highest award
possible in ISCA.

Lot No. 977
1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS-5 Convertible

silver metallic 1972 Chevelle SS 454 LS-5 convertible. This rare
drop-top is equipped with full gauges and a close ration M-22 4-speed.

a stunning package. This car is fully documented with build sheet and
window sticker. The 22K-mile car has been restored off-frame and is in
