HP Announces Solutions, Programs and Alliances for the Mobile Services and Infrastructure
Marketplace
Company to Deliver Enterprise Commerce Mobile Solution with BroadVision Technology
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2000-- Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP -
news) today announced solutions, programs and alliances for the multibillion-dollar mobile
services and infrastructure marketplace. The offerings are intended to facilitate creation of
personalized mobile e-services -- from automatic notification of flight changes at the airport to
immediate access to relevant information when in a new town.

``HP is continuing to drive innovation in mobility,'' said Rich Raimondi, general manager, HP
E-Services.Solutions. ``The HP ecosystem -- our Mobile e-Services Bazaar, now in the Silicon
Valley, and the HP Garage Program with its mobile focus -- will further fuel creation of mobile
e-services, just as we continue to fill out the arsenal of solutions we provide to companies for
reaching out to their mobile customers.''

Enterprise Commerce Mobile Solution with BroadVision Technology

The HP Enterprise Commerce Mobile solution is a secure, always-on end-to-end software and
hardware solution that allows companies to conduct business with their customers via mobile
devices, regardless of the customers' location.

The pre-integrated solution combines the BroadVision Mobile Solution, which delivers
personalized and localized information to mobile customers, partners and employees, with
technologies from industry leaders such as TANTAU and Nokia. The solution integrates HP
always-on infrastructure -- servers and storage, HP OpenView Manager for BroadVision
(which provides centralized solution management) and HP Virtualvault for security. Customers
will have a single HP point of contact for consulting services to ease implementation and for
support of the solution.

The HP solution is expected to enable information and services to be tailored to the customer's
location and type of mobile device, reducing the number of clicks required to conduct a
transaction. The solution is also expected to have the ability to capture information on usage
habits and trends, analyze it and react to it by tailoring services to individuals and overall
m-commerce trends. Among the many applications for this solution, customers are expected
to be able to access financial and banking services.

HP Mobile e-Services Bazaar in Silicon Valley

The HP Mobile e-Services Bazaar in Silicon Valley is a living lab for emerging mobile
technologies, a place that incubates new ideas, strategy and technologies. HP also has held
bazaars in Helsinki, Singapore, Beijing, and Bangkok.

The HP Mobile e-Services Bazaar gives service providers and enterprises the ability to view
and test new mobile e-services, join special-interest groups, access relevant information and
gain access to innovative solutions. Application providers benefit from technical, business,
marketing and sales support provided by HP and its participants.

HP has signed 18 new participants to join the Mobile e-Services Bazaar worldwide, including
Aspiro Inc., Bell Mobility, Brience Inc., BroadVision, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Diversinet
Corp., FieldMatrix Inc., Geoworks Corp., iConverse, INTRIA-HP Corp., Lutris, Mobile
Computing Corp., mvion Inc., OceanLake Commerce Inc., Speedware Corp., Steltor, Vaultus
Inc. and Wysdom.

HP Garage Program Goes Mobile

HP has added a mobile component to its already robust HP Garage Program by offering new
solutions and services to help take an Internet business wireless or to create a wireless
business from the ground up. Wireless start-ups and bazaar participants are now able to take
advantage of the benefits of the HP Garage Program, from solutions and services to financing
and co-marketing with HP.

Members also are able to benefit from a consultative assessment by EveryPath and additional
pre-integrated solutions from BroadVision. In addition, HP Garage Program members have
access to HP's Mobile e-Services Bazaars to showcase their wireless solutions.

The HP Garage Program is dedicated to assisting start-ups with their time to market,
preserving capital and preparing for new business models. The program also connects
start-ups with other key players in the mobile market, such as carriers and application
providers, thus helping develop distribution channels.
