Hi ahhaha; I have no desire to run away. You were the one who brought up the subject of "exact" as it applies to real numbers. My assumption was that you mistyped, and that what you meant to write was "rational." There is no meaning for "exact" as it applies to real numbers. If you can explain what you meant by "exact" as it applies to Pi, please do so. By the way, another way of getting the Clarke constant. My guess is that he got the number about this way: The number of common (i.e. not just for scrabble usage) 3-letter English words is around twice the Clarke figure of 263. If the list is expanded to include "HAL" and "IBM", suppose that the total length of the list is 528. Given that two of the names reflect IBM, namely "IBM" and "HAL", perhaps Clarke calculated the odds as 526 to 2, or 263 to 1. Such a list of 3-letter words follows, and while I have undoubtedly missed some words, on the other hand I've undoubtedly included some that are too obscure to properly belong on the list.
