I think many suspected that AMD warning was possible, if not imminent." Pure B.S. from you, Joe !! A quick check on only three AMDroids - and they were ALL HERE dumping their AMD Holier than Thou crapola. Of course, they seem s bit humbler since yesterday - what happened yesterday, Joe? ------------------------------Message 14973664 To: Amy J who wrote (121311) From: Dan3 Friday, Dec 8, 2000 11:19 AM ET Reply # of 122343 Re: my guess is that it was only some last minute xmas cancellations Have you considered the possibility that some OEMs, presented with opportunity to purchase at AMD's recently announced prices, are substituting 1GHZ to 1.2GHZ Athlons for the 800MHZ to 933MHZ P3s they had earlier planned to procure? Go to pricewatch.com and compare prices at the speed grades I've listed. If you were a buyer for Compaq, Gateway, HP, or IBM, and were faced with the two component price lists, what would you have done? Someone posted that on another BBS and I thought they were confusing Bryant with Jonathan Joseph. BTW, I agree we're near a bottom here. Motorola didn't drop today despite its warning also. Even though the Intel believers called them a bunch of idiots. By the way Barrett truly showed how clueless he is by his comments on what a great quarter they were gonna have. The other item he mentioned was that comparisons on earnings next year would be tough due to large "one time gains" last year on investments. Interesting that turnabout by him on the investment gain issue. regards, Kash -------------------------------------
