I can assure you, our founding fathers had no clue that there would be votamatic machines and punch ballots. Hell, at that point, only white male land owners were allowed to vote, and Presidents were selected by electors and not by the people. So what they intended is quite besides the point. And therein lies the fallacy of reading original intent as being more important than the basic bill of rights (and the most important single right in all of democracy -- the right to vote and to have your vote be counted).
