If Palm Beach hadn't have had the problem with their ballot Gore would have won by a large enough margin that Bush wouldn't have asked for a recount and we wouldn't be in this mess.

I have understood what you meant all along.

It is the same as thinking that when you scratch off 5 of 6 spots on a lottery card that: "the game rests on the sixth spot".

Time is fooling you into thinking that the Palm Beach issue is the only important issuse.

If we took into account every anomaly that happened on election night *country wide* we would have a different result.

Why should the 'butterfly ballot' be considered the key?

It is only ONE of many theo-rhetorical monkey wrenches.

But we have reached an imapsse.

I cannot force you to accept my point.

And I refuse to believe that the butterfly ballot 'changed everything'.

At least not in isolation...
