Between Harris and Legislators, the FIX is in.
Unless you're so partisan you don't care what they do this gang deserves our overwhleming disgust. Let's hope the US Supreme Court disapproves and bitch-slaps them down now. But otherwise it looks like Bush has stopped the count and in many peoples' minds "stolen" it. Thanks to his loyal cronies. The US feels like a real Banana Republic right about now. And if there are no more re-counts Bush will always be a tainted president, esp is the re-counts (which will happen later but won't count) show Gore actually won it. Really really crass. Tom DeLay Jr. time.

Hey, we love responsible republicans. We won't vote them out and we even want more of them. It is time for good, responsible people who will establish a level playing field.

This is probably the worst possible way of resolving this mess. I doubt if it will stand. It WILL go to the USSC and will most likely be shot down.

While the Constitution says that a state legislature gets to pick the method by which electors are selected, it does NOT say it can pick them itself (although, had it set that up as the method before the election it might (maybe) be legal). (But probably not; the people of the state are guaranteed a "republican form of government", and this probably does not qualify. I'm sure the legal eagles on the thread can come up with other, better reasons why the USSC would not like this.)

And there is a federal law that says that election rules cannot be changed after the election, and this appears to run afoul of that.
