Dan, that is incorrect. George Sr. stands by his decision today and reminds us the goal was never to do anything more than remove the Iraq troops from Q8.

I agree that he said it. I just find it highly hypocritical that the liberals are saying that Bush should have taken out Sadam when the vast majority of them opposed any action in Kuwait at the time of the war. The Dems finally caved because public opinion was something around 90%. When Kuwait was secured, once again they called for an end to the action.
Further action would have resulted in a lot lot more US deaths (unless we nuked them) and International as well as support at home would have dwindled. World would probably be a better place without sadam. Replacement for sadam very well could be worse.
