It is outrageous of you to attribute Taliban attitudes to the great majority of Muslim believers. ~~~~~~~~~ Women have been ordered to stay indoors, only to be allowed out in the company of a close male relative and wearing the all-enveloping burqa robe. They are not allowed to work. Most education for women and girls is discontinued. Women and girls have continued to be barred from attending schools and universities in Taleban controlled areas. Men have been ordered to grow beards. Women are severely punished for clothing violations, for example. They can be rounded up and lashed. A woman Khayr-Khana area of Kabul had the end of her thumb chopped off for wearing nail varnish. The punishment for adultery by a woman is death by stoning. Women are not allowed to be visible even within the confines of their homes. In March 1997 the Taleban ordered Kabul residents to screen windows in their homes at ground and first floor levels to ensure that women could not be seen from the street: "The face of a woman is a source of corruption for men who are not related to them." ... the Taliban enforced its laws ... with weekly public executions, floggings, and amputations in Kabul stadium and other cities under its control. Several men accused of sodomy were punished by having walls pushed on them by a tank. In one case, a man who survived the ordeal after being left under the rubble for two hours was reportedly allowed to go free. ... the Taliban issued new decrees aimed at non-Muslims that forbade them from building places of worship but allowed them to worship at existing holy sites, banned non-Muslims from criticizing Muslims, ordered non-Muslims to identify their houses by placing a yellow cloth on their rooftops, forbade non-Muslims from living in the same residence as Muslims, and required that non-Muslim women wear a yellow dress with a special mark so that Muslims could keep their distance.web.amnesty.org hrw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Average joe, which of these Taliban policies and acts do you consider good Muslim practice?
