Voop,

You bring up the point that we already have the combination of Qualcomm and Spinco. My point is that they might become a more powerful force operating as separate entities than operating under one roof. I believe DownSouth succinctly addressed that issue when we first learned of Spinco.

In the new scenario, Spinco takes on the look of one of Clayton Christensen's innovations coming from beneath to attack the larger markets. Having to survive on its own, Intel-like paranoia sets in and motivates Spinco to be more aggresive with its strategic partners. In that scenario, Spinco doesn't become complacent, avoiding the mistake of relying on mother Qualcomm. Instead, the offspring forges stronger relationships with Qualcomm to the benefit of both Qualcomm and Spinco.
