<<It is far better that military commanders be tasked with insuring that all soldiers with local residency receive the mandated 2 hours leave given to other federal workers so that they can travel to established polling booths to vote (here in the US). All installation commanders should emphasize, coordinate, and support absentee balloting, while keeping politics and ideology out of it.>> We both know there are those bases so large with jobs so remote on those bases, the 2 hours might not be enough, but your point about assuring the military is removed from civilian government, is well taken and grounded in the wishes of the founding fathers.
