elmatador:

I think Canadians are fine people, except they seem to want to torture nature by
putting the leaf upside down on their flag. Of course, if you lived in that cold country
you might be reasonably vexed with nature too.

Yes, I think national barriers fall, but often at a slow rate. Culture is much more a
barrier than protectionism, but it often an excuse used for protectionism as well

My own favorite Japanese story was from when we were trying to sell a switch into
Japan, and there was a single Japanese competitor. In addition to three hundred
pages of requirements, half written only in Japanese, they sent us a bag of 'Tokyo
dust' to do a 'shake and bake' test. They were worried that our PC cards would rot
out. The test was to put the boards in an over and bake it for about six months, I
recall. I did ask if they needed also to test it against Godzilla breath as well and
asked if they would supply the lizard, but they were not amused.

Yes, digital cellular, and probably a flavor of 3G will roll out here, just more slowly
than in other places, I think.

OT/Hi, elmatador - Uh-oh... we've been discovered!

'I find Canadians very smug people! and they also think that they are different!!'

Not only smug, but fat (except for the skinny ones)...and superior (except for those who feel inferior)... also English, French, honest, brave, mendacious, cowardly, intelligent, stupid, lazy, Polish, American, industrious, intelligent, German, placid, illiterate, loyal, Japanese, indigent, fiery, Czechoslovakian, and pretty much the same as people all over the world.

There are no 'Canadians', except for indigenous peoples. We are all immigrants, somewhere in our past.

I would say your sample was too small, my friend ;-)

Regards,

Jim
