RE:This is a very hard case, for reasons you outline. I would hate to see too much tinkering with a system that has "served us well." I think it much more likely that no one will remember any of this 4 months from now, which is probably the best possible final outcome. This will be remembered for a long time IMO. As for "tinkering", surely we can at least have a system nationwide where people can't vote for two people for president and where we can get away from the outdated punch card system where hanging chads and "dimples" can decide the presidency. We have the technology!
