"Ikiru" right on the spelling (and to think I worked for the Japanese for almost 7 years).

"Ikiru" is the story of a man with cancer, and what he decides to do with the time he has left. Ikuru means "to live".

It is one of the most beautiful films ever made. The range of his film making is breathtaking. To think that he made this film and "Ran" and "Rashomon" and "The Seven Samurai" and "High and Low" and, well the list goes on and on.

IMO, "Rashmon", "Ikiru" and "The Seven Samurai" are his three best, but its hard to rank them higher than the others.

In an survey of 250 top filmmakers, an amazing 10 different films were named in their own top ten lists. 10 different films!
