You nailed it! This has to do with things affecting household assets, which is why they specify a minor child residing with his parents, for example. An adult child does not have entangled finances, and is therefore excluded......

Note that FINANCIAL interest is only one type of interest recognized by the statute in question. The pertinent section pertains to the activities of the spouse which is not qualified or modified. Interest stands alone. M2

(4) "...has a financial

interest in the subject matter in controversy or in a party to

the proceeding, or any other interest that could be substantially

affected by the outcome of the proceeding;"

(5iii) "his spouse...Is known by the judge to have an interest that could be
