UF

here's what I came up with

our distinct personality, The Discoverer, might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. Your overriding goal is to go where no one else has ever gone before. Regardless of the number of available natural problems to be solved, it is not unusual for you to continually challenge yourself with new situations or obstacles that you have created. You are an insatiable explorer of people, places, things and ideas. You thrive on constant change and anything new or different. On the positive side, you can be creatively rational as well as open minded and just. On the negative side, you might be an impractical and indecisive procrastinator. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

That's me in bold.
How do I change that or am I stuck. Well I will think about it tomorrow .........

Neat link....

I am a Prime Minister.

our distinct personality, The Prime Minister might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. You are a strategist who pursues the most efficient and logical path toward the realization of the goal that you perceive or visualize. You will often only associate with those people who can assist you in the implementation of your plan. Inept assistants may be immediately discarded as excess baggage. To do otherwise could be seen as inefficient and illogical. On the positive side, you can be rationally idealistic and analytically ideological. You can be a bold decision maker and risk taker who can move society ahead by years instead of minutes. On the negative side, you may be unmerciful, impatient, arrogant, impetuous and impulsive. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

Discoverer

The whole thing seems to be based or relates to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) for studying personality types (which is itself based on the personality type theory of CG Jung). In many books about MBTI you find typical jobs for the 16 personality types of Myers Briggs. I personally do not always agree with the authors in this case (My MBTI is ESTP, so I am supposed to be a good at marketing, as a retail salesperson, auditor, jobs which I would actually hate - FWIW). Application of the theory is not easy or straight forward, and in social science, there is always an exception to the rule.

While it is quite interesting to learn about the Myers Briggs type, I feel it is limited to your preferred behavior, and does not tell you anything about things like intelligence, creativity, if your are an A**, your social skills and other things which are part of your personality as well.

There are a couple of books on this subject, but the earliest reference is probably Hippocrates: Human Nature (450 B.C.)

uf,

Took the Personality Test...(aside, I dig these things)...and was pronounced a "Discoverer".

Interestingly, the negative side is a bent toward indecisiveness and procrastination, mostly of my own making, ie, situations in which I have placed myself. I would have to agree with this, but this is not something I haven't been aware of in myself...and may be the reason why I consciously fight it off, and the reason why I sometimes seek outside opinion, my own seeming clouded...

FWIW: personality test; Prime Minister. Interesting that when I took the Myers-Briggs some years ago, my introversion score was absurdly high. How can an introvert be a Prime Minister? Maybe that is why when I am not guiding flyfishing during Spring through Fall, I live like a hermit and study up on gg candidates most of the winter (well, I do get out on the slopes some too). Well, back to lurking.....

Looks like I might be the first one of these on the thread:

Your distinct personality, The Dreamer-Minstrel might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. You can always see the "Silver Lining" to every dark and dreary cloud. Look at the bright side is your motto and understanding why everything happens for the best is your goal. You are the positive optimist of the world who provides the hope for all humankind. There is nothing so terrible that you can not find some good within it. On the positive side, you are spontaneous, charismatic, idealistic and empathic. On the negative side, you may be a sentimental dreamer who is emotionally impractical. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

With my little experience in the working world, I'm not so sure I answered everything accurately and therefore I personally don't find their conclusion to be very accurate ;). Maybe I outta take this again in a year after I enter the real world!

Hmmm....

Haven't been in lurq mode lately; 'Tis the "time of year" for family. As a semipro lurker, I'm usually moderately adept at "picking up a thread". This time G&K was a little more challenging. So after reading many score of posts:

INTC - A time of testing. Transitions are where changes in tech leadership occur. Also, I have a decent memory and the Zilog Z80 experience keeps me wary. That said, I have an Intel position and no AMD position.

Personality type - bought the book and took the test about three years ago, result - XXTJ = Fence Sitter. That's O.K. I'm one that's uncomfortable with extremes and strives (doesn't achieve, just strives) for balance. Moderation in all things, especially moderation.

Solstice Salutations (a non-denominational Season's Greeting) to all! And a year from now, may all of your portfolios be worth an order of magnitude more!
