They are within their rights to intervene if there is a violation of Federal law.

There has been nothing presented to them which even vaguely resembles a violation of Federal law.

perhaps you can enlighten me since my US history is not so good.

When USA was formed (13 original states I beleive), the only authority ceded to teh feds was national security and commerce.

Since then, hasnt the fed slowly but surely been usurping state authority in almost all fields??
