When I first heard that Clawhammer would be significantly below 100mm2 I was a bit dismayed. Not that I mind the small size for a Duron-type processor, but Clawhammer is going to represent AMD's highend as well.

If you high end processor is small whats the problem? You can either make more of them, make the same amount using less wafers, or add more to the chip later (more cache in particular)

. It looks like the time of $500+ consumer CPUs is over.

Definitly for AMD for the near future. Perhaps forever (as long as you adjust the $500 figure for inflation).

At 130nm? Where did you hear (or read) that? I thought it was supposed to be right at 100mm^2.
