Pirate Please don't take offense when I ask you what your background is in the Storage area. I only ask because I also think that EMC is flogging the dog but I have no technical background. I would hope that all of the technically competent members of SI tell it like it really is rather than what EMC would like it to be. I have NTAP but no EMC. I believing in taking sides.

Pirate_200 & DownSouth, thank you both your contributions to this thread.
As prior posts have shown, analysts have published both positive and negative opinions of the new EMC Chameleon product. It didn't surprise me that someone declared the Chameleon product inferior (indeed all EMC products) only hours after its release - based on one set of 'analyst' comments. This carries very little validity IMO. Analyst published opinions are suspect for obvious reasons. Objectivity is important. Dismissing a product based on an admitted prejudiced for one company over another does not support objectivity. But your analysis supported by these benchmarks is indeed thought provoking. I would like to present these thoughts to the members of the EMC thread for their comments. It will be interesting to see if a different picture of the Chameleon product emerges. If anything comes out of the discussion I will be happy to provide the guts of the argument to this thread.

Thanks again,
Eric
