Well that sucks if they tried to rip off your pension.

My concerns with the unions (and based on lots and lot of direct experience with many different unions) has been focused on quality and unrealistic earnings expectations.

No one should be able to touch your retirement for any reason.

You're story is compelling, and I am not saying it isn't true. There is a good chance however that you are getting your side of the story filtered through the union.

An example from an outside observer (me) is the UPS strike. That strike was about part time workers from the union spin through the news. The real issue is that UPS wanted control of the employee's pension plan, and it would have been FAR better for the employees. The union never even let the employees see the offer, so it can't proven or dis-proven. I view it as an example of the union big wigs wanting to control the $ for their own benefit, not their employees.
