Although maybe WBVN SH should be pessimistic (I'm not too happy, myself) , I think this article misleads on at least 2 points. 1. Quoting the negative line from the 10-Q misleads:

"There can be no assurance that Webvan's average order size will not decline significantly in future
periods."

So what? Isn't it the job of the 10-Qs to point out possible negative scenarios?

2. Why do people focus on the size of the warehouse? I imagine it's a very big warehouse. If they got a too-small warehouse and were operating at 100% capacity with no room for growth, would that be better?

Maybe I'm Pollyannish, but I think that it's a good sign that they ran out of pumpkin pie filling and stuffing for Thanksgiving. It shows they probably had a lot of business.

And one last point about the fact that the web might not be a good vehicle (pun intended) for selling autos. It seems to me that 50 years ago a lot of people had their groceries delivered. They used the phone instead of the internet, but I'm sure they liked the convenience. My bet is that a certain percentage of people like the WebVan convenience and service.

I live in Oakland. I've been using Webvan recently. All the delivery guys say that volumes been picking up heavily, that they're hiring new people, etc. Holiday shopping or whatever.

I've purchase some shares lately.
