Pretty nice system, Scumbria. Huge inventories of AMD-based retail systems translate into excellent deals for the consumer.

Personally, I'm waiting for my free PC from Intel, preferably a free laptop if Intel offers the option. Hopefully it'll run 3D graphics well enough for a little game playing on the road!

<I'm kind of sad that it doesn't have "Net Burst" however.>

I'm sure you are. But at least your GHz Athlon system should dissipate enough heat to warm your room during these cold December nights ...

"New Computer"

Thanks for helping a poor AMD investor like myself.

If I remember right, your old PC had a WinChip and was plenty fast enough for you. Why'd you decide to buy?

Regards,

Jeff

Hey, don't worry about a lack of "net burst", it does not apply to AMD. "Net Burst" is how Intel executives describe the performance of their dot com investments:

And it's only a little faster than a $2,800 P4 system. I guess you'll just have to learn to live with the high speed.

Congratulations,

Dan

Scumbria,
RE:"For $1300 I got 128MB of 200MHz DDR, 40GB disk, 16MB TNT2 (w/DDR of course.) 17" monitor, DVD, CDR/W, and an ink jet printer."

Sounds like you went to Best Buy.
'bout time you upgraded the WInchip.
Jim

Thank you so much for your selective disclosure. The actual price is $1700 (before $400 MSN rebate). I just wasted my trip to BestBuy.
