If the weighted index funds in Canada mimic their USA counterparts the funds will, by necessity, be purchasing new and/or additional shares at the end of the current quarter. As pointed out previously, if dumping occurs the effect might be minimized but there is little doubt the price strength of Palladium will remain a driver to this already interesting (and profitable) scenario. I do not envision Russia coming to the rescue of the consumers and most certainly not in quantities sufficient to lower the Pd prices. True, automobile manufacturers are looking to decrease the use of Pd by substituting Pt, but at the same time electronics demand is escalating. Oh by the way, did I mention fuel cells?
