In all honesty, I don't think things will
change much either way; despite all the rhetoric.

That's the truth. The country is like a huge aircraft carrier. You can try to change its direction, but only slowly and very deliberately. The bureaucracy is really in charge, and they don't change with the change in administrations. There will be some minor changes, but nothing of real significance. The economy will slow, but will gradually pick up again. The market will recover. Then it will go down. Then it will recover. Then . . .

Steven,

I just noticed you're in Subic Bay. I was in and out of there dozens of times while in the Navy. Still have great memories of the people and country. Might want to remind the folks that it took a US Aircraft carrier parked in Manila Bay to ensure a "peacefull" turnover from Marcos to Aquino. I was there and it was an interesting election, Benigno getting offed as he left the plane was the ultimate in partisan politics. Regards.
