There are few similarities between "surfing" the Web and using a cell phone to access data services. Wireless Web is a catchy marketing slogan, but that's not what realistically happens.

You can, however, program summary services for a WAP based cellphone (like "My Yahoo") that work very well, and very efficiently.

there's actually a very good section on the "wireless revolution" in this weeks Economist that addresses your points exactly. It will give you the lowdown on bluetooth and WAP and all that jazz. You do read, don't you?
