This is a very important point that got lost in the shuffle. It was mentioned briefly tonight. They said the Miami mayor race went on for months, lawyers working 20 hours a day for months on end. The average length of time is 6-12 months.

Can you imagine what would have happened to the financial markets if this had gone on 6-12 months?

In this particular case a speedy resolution is more important (since it's of national importance). Luckily the Supreme Court saw this - not to mention the pathetic nature of biased hand recounts.
