CNN is wrong.

Try reading the actual opinion. The majority opinion was the vote of 5 Justices and had no author(s) named. The 3 conservatives (Rehnquist, Scalia and Thomas) had a concurring opinion. 4 of the Justices filed dissents (Stevens, Ginsburg, Souter and Breyer) in 4 dissenting opinions. Justices Kennedy and O'Connor did not sign on in favor of any opinion but they had to vote for the majority opinion or it would not have been a majority opinion.

A very complicated opinion but it was a majority of 5 with 4 dissents.
