I love you for that. Now you have to die. We must first die to ourselves; Then we may die to all things! I used to do a little counseling. People sometimes said that they wanted to die. I would guide them to seeing it as wanting to die to the way things were--to die to their unhappiness. I used to ask: IF you had a magic wand....WHAT would you change in your life right now to make you happy? After sufficient exploration, it always resolved into very concrete problems: Dirty dishes, stained carpet, unattractive clothes, a frayed shoe lace, 2 months since seeing my friend, etc. From there it was a simple matter for people to simply solve their unhappiness one problem at a time. This is the ONLY way to erase unhappiness. It is the beginning and the end of all therapy (and most therapists do not know it)--Address and change all the problems that make you unhappy. There isn't any other way...other than pretending that you really didn't care. Now, how in the hell did I get over here?! Damn it to hell!
